Leave the kids, the significant other and the house behind and come join us in Blue Ball, PA for a Mystery Quilt or UFO Weekend Quilt Getaway. We will be staying in a beautiful B&B complete with fireplaces, Jacuzzi (for those sore shoulders), and all the comforts of home. It is situated in the heart of Amish country. We will enjoy the pleasures of the Amish countryside while we casually stitch our way through the clues to discover the identity of our mystery quilt. Or you may choose to work on your own UFO's and take the clues home for another day. We will share ideas, new quilt tricks and "Show and Tell".

We start our weekend when we arrive Friday, late afternoon, at the Blue Ball B&B for a wine and cheese get-to-know each other and Geri's "Tricky Trade." Snacks will be provided and the sewing will begin. Saturday morning we sew again, but the afternoon is all yours for shopping and dinner with an Amish family, or you may go out on your own. If you prefer to remain at the B&B this is also open. The area abounds with outlet shopping, antiques and of course DISCOUNT QUILTING SUPPLIES! Sunday we will finish up and head for home with the mystery solved or projects finished. *Suitable for all skill levels.

The getaway package is $225/person and includes:

  • 2 nights lodging
  • 1 country breakfast
  • lunch on Saturday
  • 1 dinner at an Amish home (optional, my treat)
  • a lovely sunday brunch
  • mystery quilt clues

Space fills quickly, so call now to register early. This is great fun as a group or be truly adventurous and come alone. Either way you will plant seeds of friendship that will grow for years to come.

About the Mystery Quilt

  • All the mystery quilts are designed using traditional block patterns. The quilts are constructed using quick sew, machine methods and basic rotary cutting techniques. Fun for all skill levels, beginner to advanced.
  • The quilts are designed to accommodate a wide variety of fabric and style choices. Use a planned color scheme or go scrappy. You can shop for fabrics (always lots of fun) or use what you have at home in your stash.
  • The quilt size is generally twin, and sometimes runs a little larger. With borders most can be made to full size. For a larger size you will need to make more blocks. Directions are provided for twin only. The weekend really only provides us enough time to complete that size quilt.
  • Sewing machines are required. If you can't bring your own, the local Bernina dealer provides us with loaner machines which are available for $20. Please notify us at the time of registration if you need a loaner. A limited number of machines are available.

About Blue Ball B&B

The B&B is a large converted Amish farmhouse. Each bedroom sleeps two although cots can be added. All bathrooms are new and there is a Jacuzzi. Some rooms also have fireplaces.

When you book a space you are booking a bed, not a room. Groups will be kept together if at all possible. If you are coming as a single (as I did my first time) you may find yourself with a wonderful new friend and roommate.
